What is HECA?

A Message From HECA's Membership Chair

Thank you for your interest in joining the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). HECA is truly a dynamic professional association, with over 1,000 members located in every region of the U.S. as well as abroad.

When you join HECA, you'll be warmly welcomed into a network of other college admissions consultants and enjoy the many benefits of HECA membership.

If you have questions about whether you're eligible to become a HECA Member or Provisional Member or completing our membership application, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to welcoming you to HECA!

Sincerely, Cheri Barad, HECA Membership Chairperson

Four Easy Steps

Step 1: Find out if you're eligible for HECA membership:

What does it take to become a HECA Member or Provisional Member? Read the HECA membership eligibility requirements.

Step 2: Review HECA's expectations for our members:

As a professional organization, HECA encourages our members to meet high standards in their work with students.  Learn what's expected.

Step 3: Apply for HECA Membership online:

Complete and submit HECA's online membership application.

Step 4: HAVE ONE PROFESSIONAL REFERENCE SENT And send proof of education:

Applications require ONE professional reference from a HECA member, high school counselor or college admission staff member that has known you for more than one year and can attest to your professional work ethic and pathway. Direct them to the HECA Membership Reference Form.  Also, you must provide documentation of evidence of completion of highest degree and, if appropriate, a copy of an approved certificate program (UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC Berkeley). Documents must be scanned and sent to membership@hecaonline.org.
