How we use information
Member information: We use the information you provide about yourself when applying for membership and for renewing your membership to provide membership services, including newsletters, organizational emails, and special membership offers. Only authorized employees, agents, and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information.
From time to time, we may also make member contact information (names, postal addresses, and emails) available to Board-approved third parties, including colleges, businesses, and conference exhibitors who have expressed an interest in communicating with consultants.
Other information: When you purchase a product or service from us beyond membership, we also use the information you provide about yourself to fulfill the transaction. In some cases, product and service transactions may be fulfilled through a third-party vendor and your personal information will be shared with them in order to complete your transaction.
Your Privacy Rights
Members and prospective members who do not wish to have their personal contact information shared with colleges and businesses who have expressed an interest in connecting with educational consultants may. at any time, opt-out of having their information shared with third parties. To do so, log into your HECA member account, click on "view personal profile" and change your Privacy Preferences to "No."
In other transactions (such as conference registrations) where HECA may share contact information with colleges and businesses, we will offer purchasers the opportunity to opt out within the transaction process.
In most cases, we will not have access to personal information, including credit cards, for transactions that are fulfilled by third parties (such as Amazon.com). Please review the privacy policies of the third party provider.
