Road to College Event - Sponsored by Becker College
There are two goals for this event. The first is to educate our members to the unique needs of this segment of the student population and to provide a model of a successful pro-bono activity for our members to take back to their home regions. The second is to help raise college awareness among low-income first-generation youth in our host city of Nashville. The morning will involve a workshop, limited to the first hundred registrants, to teach participating consultants about the challenges faced by low-income, first generation students during their quest for a college degree. Instruction in Financial Aid basics will also be provided so counselors can review this with their student. After lunch, counselors will work with 2 students, one after another. We will work to pair a novice counselor with an experienced counselor who will model their techniques. This counseling session is limited to 35 HECA volunteers. Read more/down load event details

"Nashville Night" - dinner is not included and you are on your own to explore the Nashville scene or attend the Grand Ole Opry.
7:00 PM Show
Grand Ole Opry Performance  You must purchase your own tickets to this suggested event. The Grand Ole Opry is walking distance, or a short shuttle or cab ride from Opryland. Use the code HECA2013 to receive your discount. See more local opportunities.
